Ron Johnson is entering his 6th year coaching at Red Lion High School and his 4th as the Defensive Line Coach. He also has directed the Strength and Conditioning and Speed and Agility Programs for the Football Team.

 

Coach Johnson began his career at York Catholic High School, where he is a member of the York Catholic Hall of Fame. He was a Big 33 Nominee and went on to play Defensive End for the Shippensburg University Red Raiders. He earned All-PSAC Honors at Ship and is 3rd on the all-time sack list for the school.

 

In 2003 Graduated with a B.A in Speech Communications. That same year he was selected as a Rookie Free Agent by the Philadelphia Eagles in the 2003 NFL Draft. He was signed to the practice squad and later was promoted to the active roster. He spent 2 years with the Eagles, before suffering a spinal injury. Coach Johnson was selected as the Number 1 draft pick by the Hamburg Sea Devil’s in the 2005 Free Agent NFL Europe Draft. Ron officially retired from the NFL in 2005 due to the spinal injury.

 

Upon retirement he started a Football Camp, provides sports specific training with athletes, serves on community boards and enjoys inspiring youth to succeed on and off the field.

 

Ron currently resides in York Suburban with his wife. He has a 16 year old son named Tyler and 2 step daughters Iolana and Vienna.
