Jesse Shay has been the Head Coach for the Lions since 2013.
​
In that time, the Lions have posted a 54-23 regular-season record. The Lions have won the YAIAA Division I Championship in 2016 & 2018 and had made the postseason for a school-record 5 years in a row. During his tenure, the Lions have also been selected 5 times as the York-Adams Football Officials' Association Sportsmanship Winners.
Prior to Red Lion, Coach Shay was the Defensive Coordinator and Linebackers Coach at Bishop McDevitt High School (Harrisburg, PA) from 2006 to 2012. He was part of a program that won three straight AAA District 3 Championships and finished as a State Runner-Up twice. During his tenure, Coach Shay coached 5 LBs to All-State selections.
Coach Shay began his coaching career at Northern Lebanon High School (Fredericksburg, PA) as the Linebacker Coach (2003 - 2005).
He played his final three seasons of collegiate football at Ursinus College (Collegeville, PA). Jesse and the Bears played in an ECAC Bowl game in his Senior year and advanced to the 2nd round of the NCAA Playoffs in his Junior season, which remains the deepest post-season run the school has ever experienced.
Before transferring to Ursinus, Jesse played one season at Clarion University (Clarion, PA). That year, the Golden Eagles won the PSAC-West Division and advanced to the Division II National Semifinal.
A native of Lebanon PA, Jesse graduated from Lebanon Catholic High School, where he was a 4 year Football starter and letterwinner.
Jesse currently resides in the Red Lion Area School District with his wife Ashley and their 8 year old daughter (Riley), 6 year old son (Finnegan) and their 5 year old daughter (Ainsley).
