ERIC UPDEGROVE

Coach Eric Updegrove (or Coach Upde) began coaching at Red Lion in 2016 as the safeties coach for varsity, and the head junior varsity coach. He currently is the Special Teams Coordinator and safeties coach for varsity, and continues to serve as the head junior varsity coach.

 

Coach Upde began his high school coaching career with Strasburg High School in Virginia in 2011, where he coached the running backs and outside linebackers. He then relocated back to Pennsylvania in 2012, where he began coaching at Kennard-Dale High School as the running backs and linebackers coach. He served as the defensive coordinator for the 2013 and 2014 seasons, and then became the interim co-head coach in 2015.

 

Coach Upde grew up in York County and attended South Western High School, where he lettered in both football and basketball. He played as a running back and outside linebacker, and was named first team all-county his senior year. After high school, he attended Millersville University to major in mathematics education. He played football for two seasons, and then coached for two seasons.

 

He currently teaches mathematics at Kennard-Dale High School, and recently just graduated with his master’s degree from Wilkes University. Coach Upde resides in the Red Lion Area School District with his girlfriend, Lauren, and their husky puppy, Jethro.
