Lions kick off 2017 with big win
There were concerns entering the new season for the Lions, who graduated nearly every starter for the squad that posted an unbeaten regular season in 2016.
While coach Jesse Shay saw some things to be worked on, Friday night's 35-7 win at Waynesboro was a great way to start the new campaign.
First-year starting quarterback Zach Throne threw for a pair of touchdowns and ran for another, while running back Zack Crossland ran for 111 yards on only 12 carries and caught four passes for another 74 yards and a score.
Shay said the duo benefited from starting on defense last season, as well as receiving valuable minutes on offense as the Lions posted big leads nearly every week. The entire team was ready for the "Friday night lights."
